Leave Sikumi/Petersburg/Head to Kenai

It was sad to leave the Sikumi on the last day.  It was a great way to see the Inside Passage.  We had such a great time with the crew.  The chef Brody taught us how to play poker.  The deckhand Jason (a 20 year old from U of M) who was a great kid, heard every single fishing and hunting story Jake had.  The stewardess Lucy had the best laugh/snort, made the best treats (and was willing to share recipes) she kept our wine glasses topped off!  The Naturalist Lisa was a wealth of information of Alaska and very enthusiastic which was contagious!  Our Captain Steven was a great leader who is a retired school teacher in Alaska and helped develop the survival training program that is taught in the Alaska school system.   The couples from Australia were great travel companions, it was fascinating to hear about all of their travels (they seriously had been everywhere!) and Jake loved showing them his card tricks.  We have added several other travel destinations on our lists after spending time with them, including Australia!

We spent one night in Petersburg.  Doug and Jake did a little fishing.  Doug got some great pictures of some bald eagles.  Sam reconnected to wifi, while I did a million loads of laundry in the local laundry mat.  Petersburg is an extremely small fishing town, it was a true Alaskan experience. 

We flew from Petersburg (thru Juneau) to Anchorage then drove to a small town named Moose Pass. The picture is of our drive to Moose Pass. Our little cabin is super cute and when we checked in we were given the warning that there has been a bear on the property and our garbage can’t be outside!  Too bad the TSA took my bear spray the day before!
