We drove up Tracy Arm to the
Sawyer Glacier. We saw so much beautiful
scenery and animals with lots of big chunks of floating ice along the way. The Glacier was beyond amazing and watching it calf
(chunks of ice falling off) was so loud!
We stopped in front of the glacier and had lunch and warmed up by a fire
on the ship deck. The blue ice was so cool
and there were more seals then we could count.
We saw a bald eagle on a chunk of
ice. It is so incredible the amount of
bald eagles we have seen here. It
honestly is like seeing a robin in Michigan.
On the way back up Tracy Arm, we
took the kayaks out. We were able to
check out the ice chunks up close, they were really neat. We also had a pretty
close encounter with a bear (yes I was dying!!) and some seals.
We then pulled up our shrimp pots
that we set the day before. Everyone
took a turn to throw a hook out in the water to grab the line of the crab pot,
it was pretty hard. We had very pretty
good success on the shrimp (catching 116) and we are promised a yummy shrimp meal later in the week. We even helped
prepping them for the crew.
